A 2017 “NEW” RELEASE
FLY-FISHING THE ATLANTIC COAST
By DON AVONDOLIO
This “new” 2017 released publication is an essential guide for both beginner or experienced fly angler. Interested beginner fly anglers will find basic information on locating/catching fish, from powerful stripers to the speedy, illusive false albacore, plus associated equipment for catching saltwater species. In contrast, advanced anglers will recognize new strategies/techniques for increasing their catch ratios.
All of the information presented in this book is based on the author’s 50 + years of experiences in active saltwater fly fishing; this involves his activities from Massachusetts to Florida. Don’s activities range from the Atlantic Coast surf lines to vast inshore waters.
The text is written with a strong slant toward concise, and easy absorption of information, making it an effective teaching tool. Furthermore, the book’s data is enhanced with two color fly plates, and related recipes. Sketches, charts, and photos with useful tips, plus several educational fishing experiences compliment the text. Additionally, this 76 page, 8 1/2” x 11” (with protective covers) book uses an easy to read popular format/font; also a comb style binding allows any page to conveniently lie flat for viewing.
The author’s love for the sport, and vast experience make him an informative teacher who always enjoys sharing his expertise. After publishing his three previous books, the author has now determined the need for a comprehensive, “new” 2017 book on this ever growing, progressing sport.
Two Past Testimonials: “I think you're doing a great job”, “the material is on target, and it shows that you possess a great deal of knowledge of the sport” —- “Lefty” Kreh, 1982, a comment on the “THE FISHERMAN” articles written by Don Avondolio.
“Don is a successful saltwater journalist in the fishing press; he has taught fly fishing, tying classes and guided trips on Long Island, N.Y.” —- Reed Hellman, Writer, “Delaware Today” magazine, July 2004.
Biography: Don’s activities since 1957 have mirrored his fly fishing sport as a writer, lecturer, and fly tier. As a free-lance writer, many of his articles, since June of 1975, have been published in a variety of fly fishing magazines. Additionally, he established and taught three courses in local high school’s Adult Educational Programs. These were “Fly Fishing in Saltwater”, “Fly Tying” and “Fly Casting”. Many of his unique fly patterns have appeared in various fly tying publications. Later, in 1999, he relocated to Delaware and founded the only SW fly club in the state — the Saltwater Fly Anglers of Delaware.
